What next after the celebration of Eid al-Fitr has passed? Will we continue to uphold the standards that we lived up to in the past month, or are we going to be “like her who undoes the thread which she has spun, after it has become strong” [Surah An-Nahl 16:92]?
Was the taqwā (piety) we tried to achieve by spending the month exerting ourselves in worship intended to be transient? If so, it is only a matter of time before the bicycle comes to a halt (or even crashes) when pedaling stops.
Most of us have probably come across the screenshot below, and how true it is!
Each Ramadān is here to reform us so that we may continue to level up in subsequent years; it is not meant to be a temporary boost of īmān (faith). The Muslim after Ramadān should be as the Muslim in Ramadān just as the Muslim after iftār should be as the Muslim before iftār.
Set sustainable post-Ramadān goals for yourself, make a firm intention to stay steadfast, put in the work and pray that Allāh makes it easy for you.
So, how do you intend to keep your ball of taqwā rolling?
