You probably already know this du’ā, but I want you to read it word for word, and let humility and hope consume you.
اللَّهُمَّ | Allāhumma | O Allāh
إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ | innaka ‘Afuwwun |indeed You are Pardoning
تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ | tuḥibbul `afwa | You love pardon
فَاعْفُ عَنِّي | fa`fu `annī | so pardon me
‘Ā’ishah (رضي الله عنها) narrated:
“I asked: "O Messenger of Allāh! If I realize Laylat al-Qadr (The Night of Decree), what should I supplicate in it?" He (ﷺ) replied, "You should supplicate: Allāhumma innaka 'afuwwun, tuhibbul-'afwa, fa'fu 'annī (O Allāh, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me)."”
