It is quite easy for a lot of us to fast through the day without having the pre-dawn meal, but the Prophet (ﷺ) told us in a hadith narrated by Anas ibn Mālik (رضي الله عنه) to
“eat suhūr, for in suhūr there is blessing”.
(Al-Bukhāri, 1923; Muslim, 1095)
Whether the blessing is reward for following a Sunnah or having enough energy to push through (most of) the day and perform our acts of worship effectively, it shouldn’t be missed out on. The meal doesn’t (and shouldn’t) have to be heavy.
Tip: If you find it discouraging to go all the way to the kitchen for food, keep some non-perishable food and water in your bedroom.
Remember to set your alarm for suhūr after reading this.
