In anticipation, we all probably made a list of the vices we want to abandon and the virtues we want to adopt in the month of Ramadān. Revisit that list and identify where you’re slacking. “A stitch in time saves nine”; we are still in the first week.
Are you
more consistent in praying on time?
reciting your daily portion of the Qur’ān?
standing for tarawīh every night?
engaging your tongue in a lot of dhikr1?
listening to your daily tafāsīr?
reading the book(s) that you plan to?
spreading kindness in words and action?
avoiding sins even after iftār?
Your stomach is fasting,
but is your heart too?
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “The best of those who fast are those who remember Allāh - the Mighty and Majestic - the most in their fast.” (Al-Wabil Al-Sayyib)
